Synopsis
In the gentle hush of dawn, when the world rests, Young-ok, an old woman, drifts through quiet streets. She drives others’ cars home, seeking a friendly voice.
To calm her lonely heart, she wanders the night. But harsh words and silent glances greet her, her quiet voice slipping into the dark.
Under a soft yellow glow, Young-ok keeps on driving, through a dawn that lingers, unanchored.
Director's Note
Broken Dawn was born from the faces I saw at dawn?봮lder women working tirelessly, quietly
holding up the city while remaining unseen. I wanted to capture their resilience, their exhaustion,
and the fragile dignity that survives beneath society’s indifference.
Rather than dramatize their struggle, I chose stillness, restraint, and emotional truth. The film
listens to Ae-shim’s silence, believing that silence can be the loudest form of resistance.
Through this film, I hope to give visibility to lives often overlooked, and to honor the quiet
strength of those who endure.
Director's Bio / Filmography
- PARK Hae-Oh
Hae-oh Park is a filmmaker based in Seoul, currently pursuing a doctoral degree in film production studies. His work focuses on the invisible emotional lives of marginalized individuals within modern urban spaces. Broken Dawn is his latest short film, following several projects exploring psychological realism and human vulnerability.
