Umbrella

2000, Color, 12', Live Action
Dir: YOO Chul-won
Keyword: Romance,
Synopsis
A wife offers her husband an umbrella for his trip to work.
She tells him she is going to a pediatrician that day but he doesn't seem to care.
On the way to the doctor she buys a pot of orchids, which later become a consolation when she discovers she isn't pregnant.
Her husband meets her at the subway station and they walk under her umbrella.
A car speeds past splashing water on them, and the pot is broken on the sidewalk.
In the rain they walk home empty-handed but with a renewed hope for the future.
Director's Note
This film deals with the conflict between a wife, who longs to have a baby, and her husband, who has lost all interest in the matter.
The director views the umbrella as an emotional shelter where the couple can develop a tolerance and understanding for their future despite their differing opinions.
