Synopsis
Born as a son of gangster members in 1968, PARK Hyun-sung is a natural-born fighter. Since his childhood, he was committed to be an Olympic champion, and he actually received a trophy at the National Sports Festival in 1982. Three years later, he became a bronze medalist at the King’s Cup International Amateur Boxing Tournament. Yet he eventually became a gang member like his father, after failing to be selected to the national team in Seoul Olympic, 1988. Out of the boxing ring, he was still an excellent fighter which led him to jail several times. While expanding his territories, he found a way to become rich. And he has set up a boxing gym for all. At the same year, Joo-young works as a researcher at Seoul National University, one of the top-notch universities in Korea. While she is working, she also passes the civil service examination which gives her the opportunity to become a high-ranking officer. However, this idealist always dreams that people in the world should be happy and should not be hurt from anybody. One day while doing internet searching, she finds an article about Phoenix Park and decides to learn boxing.
Director's Note
They are dreamers, even though they are living in Seoul that never sleeps. They are challengers living in the world filled with irrationalities and ironies. Phoenix Park, an ex-gangster boss and his two trainees are ready to go to the lonely road that no one else went. This documentary introduces three boxers who went from being nobody to becoming one of the best boxers preparing a match in their own boxing ring through fierce fights.
