Synopsis
Portrait of uncomfortable violence three people create in ordinary days.

Ordinary Days is a triptych describing the sense of receding under the titles, Between, Among and Distance. Between tells the story of Han-cheol, an insurance salesman in his mid 30's; Among is a story of Hyo-ri, an accessory designer in her mid 20's; Distance is a story of Su-hyuk who just turned 20 and runs a small cafe.

The insurance salesman, Han-cheol always listens to Spanish language cassettes called 'la vida no vale nada' on commute. His sales volume is not at all impressive and the supervisor tells him off. He one day gets a phone call from an old acquaintance and meets her. Although admitting the reality, he hits her and cries out as he gets things off his chest on the riverside.

Hyo-ri gets an accident after being dumped by boyfriend. While recuperating in her mother's place in a country, she gets to put herself together through asking some questions she couldn’t have been asking to her mother. Back to her workshop, she heads towards the scene of the accident but fails to step on the very crosswalk. The night when her wound is completely healed, Hyo-ri goes back to the crosswalk and finds a girl crossing the road from the other side towards her. She crosses the road to hit the girl, and wander the night street alone laughing and crying.
On his grandfather's death, Su-hyuk closes his cafe. After coming up with an idea of traveling while spinning the globe, he gets ready for the travel by buying the tickets and getting a passport. One day, he runs into a middle-aged man and follows him to his place. He sprints into his place to beat him and soon realizes he was beating the wrong man, not the one he’s been after. The knocked-down man is Han-cheol, and Su-hyuk is at a loss for words. Han-cheol tells SU-hyuk out and Su-hyuk runs away. After running his way off the apartment block, he cries, laughs, and asks himself with a laughter, 'What am I laughing about?'
Director's Note
It is a film about violence the wounded people expose to themselves and to the others.
Like the subtle vibration which is discreet yet certainly sensed, the improper emotions approach the characters in the film, and explode.
They cry with laughter or laugh with tears, showing the irony that we need to go through pain in order to avoid the pain.
Perhaps, it is my desire to take out my own inner rage.
